Salvage

Salvage

We offer salvaging services

We take part in salvage operations when ships run aground. Sometimes we can dig the ship free ourselves and pull it to safe waters. In other situations, we can dig away enough material to allow a barge crane to approach and lift the grounded vessel free. This was the case when we helped salvage a vessel at Klaipeda beach in Lithuania. The ship had been washed almost ashore, and we excavated all the way around it. A large barge crane then came and lifted the ship free.

We have also helped by lightening ships that had run aground. We can scoop out the ships’ cargo (such as grain and limestone) and move it to a smaller vessel.

Once some of the heavy cargo has been removed, ships can often get free themselves. The ships have been up to 120 metres long, and weighed up to 3,000-4,000 tonnes.

We have also towed cutters, yachts and other small vessels into safe harbour when they have been in distress.
