BargeVision

Our BargeVision system is a multibeam sonar system developed specifically for underwater construction work, it scans the seabed as the work progresses. Once a scan is complete, the system updates the excavator operator’s onboard computer, allowing them to monitor their work in real time.

Quality Assurance

The BargeVision system ensures a faster workflow that remains within specified tolerances and requirements from the very first bucketful excavated or placed.

All scan data can be downloaded from the machine and delivered in the client’s preferred format for their quality assurance processes.

Applications

The system is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as cable trenches, where the trench profile, material placement, and backfilling are documented in real time, meter by meter.

It is also used for dredging operations. Traditional interim surveys are often costly and time-consuming, as excavation work must be paused while the survey is conducted, with Barge-View, the survey is performed continuously.

In dredging or clearing operations where the removed material is contaminated and requires onshore disposal, avoiding over-dredging (excavating deeper than necessary) results in significant cost savings. Disposal costs are relatively high, and BargeVision helps prevent unnecessary over-dredging.

For rock-placement projects such as the construction of scour protection, breakwaters, or artificial reefs—the quality of the work is monitored continuously. This allows any gaps in the rock layer or deviations from tolerance levels to be corrected immediately, as part of the ongoing workflow.
